Tom has been flying since the early 1980’s, he started in his career in the early 1980’s with Silicon Valley
Hardware Engineering jobs. He left the design engineering roles in exchange for multiple director level
jobs in Business Development. Prior to the end of the 1990’s he had been through multiple IPOs, he
decided to retire from the high-tech life and conduct only part time flight instruction in his retirement.
Later the stock market crashed and forced Tom back into a full-time job, Flight Instruction. During this
time he and his friend Marius Abel decided to start a Flight School Management Software company –
Paperless141. As Paperelss141 grew with a world wide installed customer base, Tom had the
opportunity to become an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner for all Fixed Wing Ratings including All Flight
Instructor ratings and ATP. Tom has over 11,000 Hours of flight time and instruction time with a greater
than 92% first-time check ride pass rate for his own students with other examiners and he has
conducted over 2,300 Check Rides for other CFIs.
Tom’s teaching philosophy is built around a bi-directional information exchange model to teach/train all
aspects of aviation. Tom enjoys customizing lessons for each student and their learning style/abilities.
The best first step is to sit down, meet and discuss your aviation goals and your preferred learning style.
